Chiropractic Care
What is Chiropractic Care?
If your lower back is bothering you, you are not alone! Did you know that 8 out of 10 people struggle with back pain? What do you do if you have pain? For many, they turn to their traditional medical doctor who usually prescribes prescription drugs, and sometimes bed rest, traction, and surgery. Chiropractic care at Sioux Falls Chiropractic offers a safer, more natural approach to pain management.
How Does it Work?
The human body is great at healing itself. Chiropractic care harnesses that potential for healing by focusing on the body’s communication system. The central nervous system tells your body parts what to do. When problems come in like stress, low back pain, or nerve pain, the communication breaks down. It is just like when our cell phones encounter interference or drop calls. With our bodies, misalignments cause more than just mobility restrictions, they also cause a breakdown in the body’s communication system. Chiropractic care is a series of manipulations and physical thrusts performed by trained medical professionals that restores spinal vertebrae back into the right position, enabling your central nervous system to communicate with the rest of your body more effectively. So instead of treating the symptoms such as low back pain, shoulder pain, sciatica and carpal tunnel, the doctors at Sioux Falls Chiropractic treat the root cause.
How Are Chiropractors Trained?
The education and licensing requirements for doctors of chiropractic (DCs) are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions. All DCs are educated in nationally accredited, four-year doctoral graduate school programs through a curriculum that includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom education, laboratory time and clinical internships. The average DC program is equivalent in classroom hours to allopathic (MD) and osteopathic (DO) medical schools! They are designated as physician-level providers in the vast majority of states and federal Medicare program.
How Does Chiropractic Care Work with Traditional Medical Care?
At Sioux Falls Chiropractic we are very aware of the conditions that we are prepared to treat, and those that are beyond the purview of chiropractic care. If, during the course of your treatment, we encounter conditions that are better served by others in the medical community, we will let you know and make the appropriate referral.
It is always our goal to avoid costly medications and surgeries, but sometimes that isn’t possible. In those situations, we work closely with other excellent medical doctors and surgeons to ensure the best care possible!
